The airline has not announced when the interisland flights to Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaii, will begin. Kona is the main Big Island airport.

American Airlines has announced 16 new routes, including seasonal service to Caribbean beaches and a return to Acapulco, Mexico, after eight years.

The International Association of Machinists is trying to organize Delta ground workers and flight attendants and Delta is fighting the effort.

Hotels use outside companies including ResortPass, DayPass, DayAxe and Daycation, to handle bookings.

Airline executives concede some travelers will be concerned after the plane’s grounding but say they don’t think it will be a “massive issue.”

USA TODAY flew to Hawaii on Southwest Airlines and back on Hawaiian Airlines to compare the experience.

The Las Vegas-based discount carrier plans to add flights to Mexico. It has not disclosed any routes or when flights will begin.
